It seems that each time you turn around, a fan favorite Syfy show is cancelled. Most recently fans were hit with the cancellation of ‘Being Human’ and ‘Warehouse 13.’ Now it seems the dark fae have won as ‘Lost Girl’ will be ending after Season 5.

The announcement was made via a video on Anna Silk’s Twitter account where, close to tears, she thanked fans for their continued support by saying, “After five incredible seasons, we have decided that it’s time for Bo’s journey to come to an epic conclusion. Being a part of the ‘Lost Girl’ family has truly been a gift.”

Silk further informs fans that instead of the usual 13 episode run, Season 5 will have 16 episodes split into two parts. “So while we might be saying goodbye,” she continues, “we’ll be doing it with a bang.”

You can watch the heartfelt video below:

Fans may recall in last season’s jaw dropping finale, there was a shocking death and the loss of an important person from Team Bo, and now in the beginning of Season 5, Bo is determine to bring that person back. ““Nothing is gonna stop her,” says Silk in an interview with EW. “I like that kind of drive in a character and that kind of energy in an episode—boom, boom, boom.”

Of course, one of the appeals of ‘Lost Girl’ is the scenes that depict Bo’s succubus nature:

“… it’s important for my character to have those scenes. That’s the nature of who she is. That’s the other thing I like about Season Five: They do highlight her true nature, that she’s not really a monogamist and doesn’t fall in love every five minutes, but she can’t be with just one person, necessarily. She’s a sexual creature.”

Who Bo will end up with will definitely be a highpoint of the final season. Those on Team Dyson or Team Lauren will have to wait and see, but we can all hope it won’t end up like Sookie’s life did in the ‘True Blood’ series finale. As Silk stats, “I think the sci-fi world that Lost Girl lives in lends itself to everyone being happy and no one being happy.” Of course, there are those who would like to see a happily ever after ménage-a –trois ending too.

Syfy has yet to announce when Season 5 of ‘Lost Girl’ will air but if they follow the same schedule as last season, expect to see the series return to US television in Jan. 2015.
