Whovians have waited a long time (8 months in fact) and now the wait is almost over! It’s a new beginning with a new Doctor, a new TARDIS, and a new season of ‘Doctor Who’ and BBC America is kicking off the celebration with a week long ‘Doctor Who’ marathon!

The ‘Doctor Who Take Over’ week officially begins on Monday, August 18 at 8am ET/5am PT and will  air all the episodes starring David Tennant as the 10th Doctor and Matt Smith as the 11th before Peter Capaldi’s debut as the 12th Doctor on Saturday, August 23rd. (Yes, we’re wondering why no love for Chris Eccleston’ 9th Doctor too.)

There will also be repeat showings of ‘The Doctors Revisited,’ the 11 episode half hour miniseries which showcased each Doctor from William Hartnell’s First Doctor to Matt Smith’s 11th as well as another chance to see ‘An Adventure In Space and Time,’ the origin story written by Mark Gratiss about the road to get ‘Doctor Who’ on the air. Also included will be two new specials ‘The Ultimate Companion’ and ‘The Ultimate Time Lord.’

But that’s not all! Prior to the Season 8 premiere of ‘Doctor Who,’ super-Whovian Chris Hardwick will host the ‘Doctor Who: Live Pre-Show ‘at 7:30pm ET/ 4:30pm PT. Then Whovians will finally get a chance to see Capaldi in action as he takes control of the TARDIS with his trust companion Clara in the episode ‘Deep Breath.’ After the series premiere of ‘Intruders’ (which airs after ‘Doctor Who’), Hardwick will return as host of the ‘Doctor Who: After Who Live’ at 11:00pm ET/ 8pm PT. The pre-show and post-show will feature an array of guests in the studio including writer and actor Mark Gatiss along with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage.

And the fun doesn’t stop there!

BBC America continues its ‘Doctor Who’ celebration with a fan made marathon on Sunday with results from their ‘Make Your Own Doctor Who Marathon’ poll!

Whew! Quite a schedule! It’s a good time to be a Whovian and a good time to just leave the channel on BBC America next week!

So get ready for all the Whovian goodness when ‘Doctor Who’ takes over BBC America beginning Monday, August 18th.
