Last week, Terry Gilliam’s upcoming film ‘The Zero Theorem’ made headlines because of the MPAA banned their most recent teaser poster for showing a bare butt on it. While the censorship seemed unnecessary to many, the buzz was a good thing for the sci-fi film that premiered at the 2013 Venice International Film Festival, since it didn’t have an official release date in the US yet. However, a date for a theatrical run has recently been announced and a brand new trailer has been unveiled to commemorate the occasion.

After months of uncertainty as to when American audiences would finally get to see the film starring Christoph Waltz, Mélanie Thierry, and David Thewlis, we now know that we can see ‘The Zero Theorem’ on iTunes starting on August 19th before making it’s way to theaters a month later on September 19th. To go with this announcement, Apple has released a new trailer to promote the release from the acclaimed filmmaker behind ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’, ’12 Monkeys’, and ‘Brazil’. You can check it out below followed by the film’s synopsis:

Living in isolation, Qohen is obsessively working on a mysterious project personally delegated to him by Management aimed at discovering the meaning of life – or the complete lack of one—once and for all. Increasingly disturbed by visits from people he doesn’t fully trust, including the flirtatious Bainsley, his unpredictable supervisor Job, and would-be digital therapist Dr. Shrink-Rom, it’s only when he experiences the power of love and desire that he’s able to understand his own reason for being.
