During last night’s second season finale of ‘Arrow’, the world got it’s first look at Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen in action as the Flash. However, the quick teaser gave us more of Stephen Amell’s hooded hero than the fastest man alive. Well, that is now remedied as the first trailer for ‘The Flash’ has hit the web.

Earlier today, The CW released an extended trailer on their YouTube channel for the upcoming DC Comics scarlet speedster spinoff that features the first footage from the show. Previously, we got to see Gustin suit up in the red and yellow when the network unveiled the first publicity stills for the show a few months back, but now we get to the Flash in his element and saving the day. You can check out the trailer below, followed by the official synopsis of the show:

After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion — and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become…The Flash.

This trailer not only recaps Barry’s accident as seen in the second season of ‘Arrow’, but we get to see our hero’s beginnings, his encounter with the Weather Wizard, and a cameo from a certain emerald archer. While the five-minute video might have given away too much of the pilot in my opinion, it’s still a great introduction to the new hero, Central City, and the mythology of the new show.
