We’ve already seen that The CW’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” is going to be bringing multiple iterations of our heroes to life and the latest announcement has Tom Welling returning as the Superman from ‘Smallville‘! Welling is one of the most iconic iterations of Clark Kent to have existed, and fans are going to be thrilled to see him return. Not only that, but the crossover is set to “reveal what happened to Clark Kent almost ten years” after ‘Smallville’ had come to an end.

Fitting as the series is why The CW has such a tight relationship with DC in the first place.

Of Welling’s inclusion, executive producer Marc Guggenheim was thrilled to state:

“For eight years, Arrow has stood on the shoulders of Smallville. Simply put, there would be no Arrow, and no Arrowverse, without it. So when we first started talking about ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths,’ our first, second, and third priorities were getting Tom to reprise his iconic role as Clark Kent. To say that we’re thrilled would be a Superman-sized understatement.”

While Superman isn’t an active ongoing character in the current Arrowverse universe aside from the occasional appearance of Tyler Hoechlin on ‘Supergirl’ we do know that not only will Hoechlin be suiting up for this one but Brandon Routh will be appearing as another version of The Last Son of Krypton!

With both television and cinematic versions already being included you can’t help but wonder if they’ll try to surprise audiences with either Henry Cavill or Dean Cain also showing up.

‘The Flash’ star Grant Gustin recently teased that he’ll be front and center when this mega-crossover kicks off with his character as:

“I can’t spoil too too much because I haven’t read it yet. I’ve been teased a lot from our guys what it’s going to be. The Monitor shows up at the end of our first episode and says the universe is in jeopardy and in order to save the universe, Barry Allen has to die. And Barry Allen doesn’t know about this deal Oliver made with the Monitor, either, so someone’s gonna die.”
