Not much has been revealed about ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ but the three major stars of the original movies, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill have been spotted in or around London, where filming is set to take place.  And according to Deadline, expect to see Ford as Han Solo in a major role in the upcoming movies.

Now if you saw ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’, you couldn’t have missed that Ford’s action hero days are mostly behind him, but he has maintained the highest profile among the original ‘Star Wars’ actors and has continued to act in more films. Therefore, it’s probably wise to place him in a high profile role in the new films.  (Although Ford is reportedly angling for yet another ‘Indiana Jones’ movie, even though Shia LeBeouf– Indy’s long-lost son in ‘Crystal Skull’ has taken a break from acting.)  Deadline is reporting that his role is being described as “gigantic.” Considering that the remainder of the younger cast will be comprised mainly of little known up-and-comers, this rumor could actually be proven true.

Oscar Isaac, the star of the Coen Brothers’ ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ is rumored to be the frontrunner for a major new role.  Also in the mix (reportedly) are Adam Driver from the HBO series ‘Girls’, British actor John Boyega from ‘Attack The Block’ and British stage actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers.  Other names that have swirled around the ‘Star Wars’ follow-up are Zac Efron and Michael B. Jordan.

So is it wise to perhaps build the movie around the established names before turning the reins over to the new players?  What would you like to see in the upcoming movies?  How should the beloved movie series wind itself up? Share your thoughts below!
