‘The Walking Dead’ returns on February 9th and fans can’t wait!  The mid-season finale changed everything!  The safe haven, The Prsion was destroyed, the big bad guy The Governor was killed, but not before he killed the show’s “moral compass” Hershel and ultimately the cast was scattered to fend for themselves with no supplies or food.

It was already revealed that audiences should expect to see more single character-centric episodes, like the two that focused solely on The Governor before the big mid-season climax.  In the comics, Rick fell ill/depressed after the prison escape, leaving Carl to fend for the both of them and the trailer reinforces that the show looks to emulate that storyline.

Some of the survivors remained together.  Maggie escaped with Bob and Sasha, while Darryl and Beth remained together.  After the bus took off, Tyreese was left to look after Lizzie and Mika, which is ironic because these are the two girls that Carol came to look at almost as daughters– Carol being the one who killed Tyreese’s girlfriend Karen earlier in the season.  This further reinforces the rumor that it will be Tyreese who first encounters Carol later this season.  Rick and Carl remained together, so that leaves Michonne to fend for herself.  Fortunately, she’s used to that.  And don’t forget that Lily and Tara are also still alive, so they could crop up again in the future.

At any rate, things look bleak in the new trailer, which integrates a formerly rousing speech by Rick, which now takes on a darker tone, especially set to a somber cover of CCR’s “Bad Moon Rising” and the tag line “Don’t Look Back”, pointing toward a dark second half of this season.  Watch for yourself below:

Too short, am I right?!  But at any rate, lately they’ve dialed back the zombie content and focused on human threats.  With The Governor eliminated, it appears that the Walkers will play a larger role as the characters are splintered into smaller groups with no home base or supplies.  Good luck, guys!
