Fans of Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ are super stoked for the guest appearance of comic book legend Stan Lee on next week’s episode, but Marvel announced today that another huge guest star is on her way to pay a visit to Agent Coulson and his team. After the slightly disappointing episode ‘The Well’, it appears that we’ll be getting the ‘Thor: The Dark World’ crossover that we’ve been waiting for.

According to Marvel.com, Jamie Alexander will reprise her role as the Lady Sif in an upcoming episode of the first television show to be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe later this season. There are currently no details regarding what brings the mighty warrior to Midgard other than she has a “very specific mission”, but ABC President Paul Lee told reporters at the TCA press tour that Sif’s role is “integral” to the episode, so it definitely won’t be as short as Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury cameo from earlier in the season.

Though I’d love to see this happen, I somehow doubt that this mission will be related to the ending of the God of Thunder’s last film where (SPOILER) his trickster brother pulled one over on him and assumed the throne of the realm by dispatching their father somehow. But if her mission did somehow involve Loki and his evil schemes, it would be a welcome addition to the show.

Speaking of welcome additions, Sif usually doesn’t travel alone. The Warriors Three are often close behind her, so would it be possible that they may pop up as well? We can only hope that there are more Asgardians in our future since we’re not meant to hear from that corner of the MCU for some time since another ‘Thor’ movie isn’t on the books just yet.

Are you excited to hear that another character from Marvel Studios’ hit films is dropping by ‘Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D.’? What do you think brings the Lady Sif to Earth to cross paths with Coulson and company? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments.

‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ starring Brett Dalton, Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Chloe Bennet, and Clark Gregg airs on Tuesdays at 8:00pm on ABC.
