When we fanboys get a hold of a juicy rumor, we clamp down like a dog with a bone!  Though there has been no confirmation that Wonder Woman/Princess Diana will appear in ‘Batman Vs. Superman’, actress Jaimie Alexander stated that she’d been in talks with Warner Brothers regarding the film, fanning the flames of speculation.  Then it was rumored that ‘Oblivion’ actress Olga Kurylenko has read for the part.

Now add two more names to the list.  ‘The Fast and the Furious’ actress Gal Gadot and ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation”s Elodie Yung are also rumored to be on the list of actresses to play the unnamed “tall, brunette, athletic and exotic” female role.

To further press the matter, Variety states

“Insiders believe the plan is to not just have Batman appear in the film, in addition to Superman, but several members of the Justice League as well. It’s unclear which members but Wonder Woman and The Flash are said to be locks to make an appearance in some fashion, whether that’s a significant role or a cameo.”

The Flash, too?!

Well, as if that weren’t enough, LatinoReview— who have a pretty solid track record as far as rumors proving to be true– are reporting that Nightwing is going to appear!  Since this Batman (Ben Affleck) is supposed to be older and battle-weary, it’s entirely possible that in his career, he had time to take on a younger partner, perhaps a Robin, who grew up and adopted his own identity of Nightwing.  (Someone get Joseph Gordon-Levitt on the phone, stat!  Or, y’know Justin Beiber.)

El Mayimbe from the site states that the studio is looking for a “young John Hawkes type” referring to the actor who was nominated for an Academy Award for ‘Winter’s Bone’ and has also appeared in ‘Lincoln’, ‘American Gangster’ and on ‘Eastbound and Down’.  El Mayimbe also states that the studio is looking for a “Caucasian who can do martial arts who is 5’10”.”  He then points out that John Hawkes is 5’10”, but stresses that the studio is looking for a younger version of that actor.  (I can’t tell if Hawkes should be insulted or flattered.)  For reference, this is what Hawkes looks like:

But as I’ve said before, it’s still so early in the game, although they have begun filming, so the script must be complete or at least very close to it.  But I would be extra cautious buying any of these supposed “close sources” and these rumors.  I’m dying to see Wonder Woman on the big screen, but only if they do it right.  But I think jamming loads and loads of super heroes into the movie is probably the wrong approach.  With ‘The Avengers’, most of the characters got the chance to shine in other movies before stepping into that movie “jam.”  I’m fearing something closer to ‘Batman & Robin’ which just got loaded down with too many characters.  (Oh, trust me, I know that wasn’t that movie’s only problem.)

What do you think?  Do you want to see Wonder Woman, Nightwing and/or The Flash in ‘Batman Vs. Superman’?  Or should they focus on the two main characters and let them flourish a bit before cramming in additional guest stars?  If they do include these other characters, who should play them?  Comment below!
