The Fantastic Four reboot is still a couple of years off, but rumors are already swirling as to the new cast.  The controversial idea that African American Michael B. Jordan could be cast as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch has already ignited heated discussion.  Now, Miles Teller, Willard from the remake of ‘Footloose’ may be in the running for Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic.  The role was previously played by Ioan Gruffudd in the first two films (as well as Alex Hyde-White in the low-budget 1994 version).  Teller has starred in the Sundance Award winning movie “The Spectacular Now” and has a recurring role in the upcoming ‘Divergent’ franchise, portraying the role of Peter.

Recently, Teller was a bit dodgy on the subject, but commented “Uh, you know, I don’t know. If that happens, if everything works out, then I will be pretty pumped. But then I’ll also be working for … it’s like seven months out of your year. Which is not a bad problem.”

Can I just point out that Miles Teller he looks like a 12 year old?  Like seriously.  If you need a refresher on what Mister Fantastic looks like, observe:

Salt and pepper hair!  Old.  Not some 20-something that’s not even old enough to drink !  And also, looks younger than Johnny Storm!  Really?!  That was my major issue with Ioan Gruffodd, that he looked too young for the part.  Granted, no one wants a ‘Murder She Wrote’ movie, but perhaps Marvel should have thought about that before giving him grey hair and having him father a child.

But things aren’t locked into place.  Teller is still up against “Game of Thrones’ Kit Harrington and ‘Skins’ Jack O’Connell for the part.  (Both of whom are also too young.)  And Teller’s commitment to ‘Divergent” could frustrate things.  (Wah waaaaah.)

Saoirse Ronan, Kate Mara and Margot Robbie are rumored to be in he running for Susan Storm/The Invisible Woman.

What do you think?  Is Miles Teller the right choice for Reed Richards?  Who else would you like to see in the role?
