When it started, ‘Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ wasn’t set for a full season run. Fans who were worried about a shortened season with no follow through can now breathe a sigh of relief as ABC has just ordered that the freshmen show can get a full season after all! That’s right true believers! It’s gone from a 13 episode order to a full 22 episode season. While viewership may have dropped and one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s creators might not be happy with the show – fans are loving it. It probably helps that the season premiered with 11.9 viewers and that the majority of the reviews for the show are positive.
It’s a good thing we’re getting an extension too as we’re just starting to get into our first story that involves a potential future super villain in the latest episode, ‘The Asset‘. Oh and there’s still the fact that we have no idea what really happened to Agent Coulson. Since he won’t be in ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron‘ it’s something they’ll have to cover before the show comes to a close (or there may be riots!)
So fellow Marvel fans, we’ve got a full season to play with. Now it’s time for them to keep up the great story telling on their end and us to keep up the viewership to get into a season 2. The entire show is the perfect launching point for new heroes and villains as well as a way to make references to other Marvel properties (even if it’s not an Easter Egg hunt.)
If you’ve been watching the show, are you happy on this news? What do you hope they include in future episodes? Is this a show that you want to see be ongoing or do you think it has a limited lifespan? Sound off below!
