After recently introducing the whole team to the world, ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ has started adding more cast members. While currently shooting the series’ first season, the Joss Whedon created show brought in David Conrad of ‘The Ghost Whisperer’ and ‘Roswell’ to potentially fill the role of a “brilliant and quirky scientist”. But now a new casting report tells us that another actor is being brought in to join Conrad, Clark Gregg, and the whole gang as a scientist.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Ian Hart is the latest new addition to Marvel’s first show to be set in their cinematic universe. While appearing frequently on Britain’s BBC networks over the years in a variety of roles ranging from John Lennon to Adolf Hitler, Hart is best known as Professor Quirrell in ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’. Lately, he’s also appeared on US shows such as ‘Bates Motel’, ‘Luck’, and ‘Dirt’.
Similarly with Conrad, details on Hart’s character are being kept under wraps for now. It’s uncertain whether he’ll be playing a character from Marvel’s expansive catalogue of characters, but I did mention that quirky scientist character earlier. If I had to guess, that role is actually going to the former Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher.
The report also mentions an interesting piece of information. They say that Agent Coulson’s show has an “unwritten rule”: “All super-powers introduced on the show must be explained by science — not magic or supernatural forces.” If this rule turns out to be true, that might hint at who might or might not show up in terms of cameos on the show. And that’s a total bummer considering that Tom Hiddleston recently stated that he’d be open to bringing Loki to the small screen to terrorize S.H.I.E.L.D. once again. We’ll just have to see how things play out when the show premieres next month.
What do you think about Ian Hart enlisting with ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’? Do you think that he’ll play the quirky scientist role or something completely different? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
