At some point or another, most of us have likely at the very least given consideration to the idea of cosplaying some of our favorite characters from movies and comics. Even if it was just for something as simple as a Halloween costume, most of us have wanted to put together an awesome costume based on our favorite heroes at one point or another. The problem is, many of these costumes and the props needed for them are intricately detailed and difficult to make for those who are inexperienced at making them. Now, Hasbro is trying to change all of that with their new Marvel Legends Prop Replicas line!
This new line from Hasbro means to close the gap between prop replica and cosplay accessories, bringing collectors the chance to pick up some key pieces of their favorite heroes attire to really bring their costume together, or maybe just to display in their home! At the suggested $100 price point, these pieces look to be much more affordable than many custom cosplay pieces, and they look fantastic!
So far the only pieces announced are Iron Man’s Helmet and Captain America’s Shield, but both are made to be screen accurate – to an extent. Iron Man’s helmet is super detailed, and features a removable face-plate as well as lights and sounds, but it doesn’t quite move around the way that Iron Man’s Helmet would in the films. Realistically it’s a small price to pay when you realize just how low the cost of the helmet is!
Captain America’s Shield is screen accurate as far as the size, scale, and paint job; but it isn’t made of metal, and probably shouldn’t be thrown around! Still, if you just wanted this fantastic 24″ wide Shield for display or to carry for a costume, the $100 price tag is more than worth it for the accuracy of the design!
These new Marvel Legends Prop Replicas are due to start hitting stores this fall. Be sure to stay tuned to ScienceFiction.com all this week for all of the latest news coming out of New York Toy Fair 2016!
