After the premiere of the pilot at San Diego Comic-Con, the team from ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ resumed work on Marvel’s first live-action television show set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Recently, we’ve been introduced to a few of the agents on Coulson’s team like Melinda May and Grant Ward, but we’ve just got word that another new face will be stepping onto the Hellicarrier as well.

David Conrad has joined the cast of Joss Whedon’s upcoming show in a recurring role. The actor is best known for his stint in ‘The Ghost Whisperer’ alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt, but he’s also appeared on ‘Boston Public’, ‘House’, ‘Roswell’, and ‘The Good Wife’. He even had a small part in the 2005 Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson comedy ‘Wedding Crashers’.

As for who he’ll play in the show alongside Clark Gregg and company, details remain highly secretive, as they tend to do when it comes to Marvel projects. However, the reports indicate that they were searching for someone to fill the role of a “brilliant and quirky scientist” in his 40s, so it’s possible that Conrad could be brought in to play that part. If that’s the case, maybe we’ll see him interact with Agents Fitz and Simmons since they seem to be the team members to frequent the labs most often.

Any guesses on who the actor could be playing in ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’? My guess is that he won’t be playing anyone comic fans are familiar with, but you never know with this show. Let’s hear your theories in the comments.

‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ starring Brett Dalton, Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Chloe Bennet, and Clark Gregg premieres on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 8:00pm on ABC.
