The Twilight Effect is in full force.  Next week, the movie adaptation of ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’, based on Cassandra Clare’s hit novel series, hits theaters and if you’ve seen the ads on TV, fans are squealing like One Directioners when Harry Styles drops trou on stage!  But before that film even unspools for its first audience, here comes the first trailer for ‘Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters’ the NEXT live action adaptation from a best-selling YA vampire series!

Here is the official synopsis:

Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir: half human/vampire, guardians of the Moroi, peaceful, mortal vampires living discretely without our world. Her legacy is to protect the Moroi from bloodthirsty, immortal Vampires, the Strigoi. This is her story.

Here is the first trailer:

There are six books in the series, meaning there could potentially be six movies.  Or seven if they split the last book into two movies, just like every other YA inspired book series.  The books have sold over 8 million copies worldwide and inspired a follow-up spin-off series called ‘Bloodlines.’

Not sure about the politics, but will they show this trailer before ‘The Mortal Instruments’?  Or is there a rivalry between these different series?  Are you excited to see more vampire teen movies?  Or do you want to drive a wooden stake through the very genre?  Sound off below!

Starring Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry, Danila Kozlovsky, Gabriel Byrne, Sarah Hyland, Joely Richardson, Cameron Monaghan, Sami Gayle, Claire Foy and Ashley Charles, Vampire Academy opens February 14, 2014.
