Miss out on Disney XD’s fan-favorite series ‘Tron Uprising’? Now is your chance to catch up! Thursday night, August 9th, the network will air a marathon, starting with the webisode “Beck’s Beginning” which was released online in May to help launch the series which officially began in June. The marathon will then feature all six episodes that have aired thus far. (No word yet on when new episodes will air.)

‘Tron Uprising’ takes place in The Grid, the computer world of the live-action ‘Tron’ movies and even features the voice of Bruce Boxleitner, reprising his role as Tron, mentoring young mechanic Beck (voiced by Elijah Wood), who has somewhat begrudgingly  taken on the role of The Renegade, essentially the next Tron, a leader who will inspire the programs of The Grid to rise up against their militaristic rulers, led by Clu (Fred Tatasciore) and his right-hand General Tesler (Lance Henrickson). Beck is aided by his boss Abel (Reginald VelJohnson) and fellow mechanics Mara (Mandy Moore) and Zed (Nate Corddry). Tesler is assisted by his underlings Paige (Emanuelle Chriquri) and Pavel (Paul Reubens). Olivia Wilde reprised her film role of Quorra in episode #6, “Isolated.”

With its sleek, stylized artwork, reminiscent of ‘Aeon Flux’, techno music inspired by Daft Punk’s soundtrack to ‘Tron Legacy’ and all-star voice cast, not to mention mature, intelligent writing, the show is one of the best animated series currently airing and has attracted a devoted following. But for whatever reason, the series has struggled in the ratings. Perhaps it’s just timing, launching in the summer, typically a no-man’s-land of television programing. Maybe the show is too mature for Disney XD’s normally youthful audience.

At any rate, if you’ve missed out on this sophisticated and entertaining series, here is your opportunity to get up to speed! Tune in to Disney XD, this Thursday, beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern.
