In what seems to be déjà vu, reports are surfacing that Mickey Rourke is in negotiations to reprise his role of Marv, the hulking tough guy with a soft spot for women, in the ‘Sin City’ sequel ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.’

Wait, you say? Wasn’t it already reported that Rourke was starring in the film back in April? Well, yes we did, but apparently the news was a bit premature and more of a verbal “he’s coming back” report as now Rourke has officially offered the role by the filmmakers.

While the news may seem baffling (after all, Marv did get the chair in the original), ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ will be set at a time before the events in ‘Sin City’ thereby alleviating the fact that Marv died. The film, which was written by Frank Miller and based on an original story he wrote, will once again follow the exploits of Dwight McCarthy. Here’s a synopsis in case you’re not familiar with the tale:

Enter Dwight McCarthy, a clean-living photographer who tries to avoid trouble because he knows what he’s capable of. His tactics don’t do him much good when a girl from his past (who he can’t say no to) shows up and professes her love for him. When he finds out she’s in way over her head, it looks as though trouble has found him. What’s going to happen? You guessed it: people get hurt.

The movie will once again be made in the same black-and-white highly stylized format as the original but this time it will be in 3D. Filming has yet to start, but with the announcement that Rourke is in talks to star in the film, don’t be surprise when more official casting news begin to surface.

Expect ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ to be in theaters on October 4th, 2013.
