A new Peacekeeper has been added to Panem and he’s ready to do anything to keep the Capital in power at any cost. According to Variety, Patrick St. Esprit has been added to the cast of ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ to play Romulus Thread, the Head Peacekeeper for District 12.

St. Esprit was recently seen in the cable series ‘Sons of Anarchy’ and has spent a lot of time playing military/law enforcement officer roles throughout his acting career. He’s been seen in the films ‘We Were Soldiers’, ‘United 93’, and ‘Super 8’ as well as the television shows ‘Saving Grace’, ‘JAG’, and ‘Sleeper Cell’ so playing a Peacekeeper should be second nature.

Although not a large role, it does underscore the Capitol’s fear of rebellion as Katniss’ status now becomes the rebellion’s symbol for revolution. To keep the rebellion from forming cohesively, President Snow sends more Peacekeepers to District 12 lead by Head Peacekeeper Thread (St. Esprit). Thread is “fiercely loyal” to the Capitol and doesn’t think twice about carrying out brutal punishments to enforce its laws. Obviously, St. Esprit will be playing someone you know you are going to hate.

Although Lionsgate has yet to confirm this casting, hopefully an announcement will come soon as well as one for who will play the hotly anticipated role of Finnick Odair.

‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ is scheduled for release on November 22, 2013.
