With this year being the 30th anniversary of the ‘Back to the Future’ trilogy, fans from every walk of life have been finding ways to celebrate the beloved film series from Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale. Orchestral concerts, Lego recreations, actual working Hoverboards, replica shoes from Nike, a clothing line from Johnny Cupcakes, an epic immersive event from Secret Cinema, and a brand new collector’s box set from Universal Pictures, which includes the never-before-released animated series, are just a few examples of the things we’ve seen so far, but there’s more exciting offerings on the way. For instance, the Kickstarter-funded documentary ‘Back in Time’ has compiled an unprecedented look at the cultural significance of ‘Back to the Future’ with all-new interviews from the cast, crew, and famous fans. And now, this little doc initially created for the ‘We’re Going Back’ Fanfest in Hollywood this fall has received a theatrical run that will start on a very significant date to franchise.

According to Deadline, ‘Back in Time’ from Malka Media Group, Patchwork Media, and director Jason Aron has been acquired by Gravitas Ventures and will premiere on VOD and in select theaters on October 21, 2015, which is the date in the future that Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown travel to in ‘Back to the Future II’. The film features interviews with director Zemeckis, screenwriter Gale, producer Steven Spielberg, stars Michael J. Fox, Lea Thompson, and Christopher Lloyd, and many more as they explore the impact of trilogy and the making of the 1985 movie that started it all. On behalf of Gravitas, founder and CEO Nolan Gallagher echoed the sentiments of Aron and producer Lee Leshen who want as many fans as possible to see their movie to celebrate along with them:

“Iconic documentaries, like a bolt of lightning, only come around so often. We are honored to be a part of the ‘Back to the Future’ mythology and bringing this must-have film to the millions of fans who have loved the trilogy all these years.”
