At first, the new trailer for Marc Webb’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ from down under looked like more of the same old stuff that we’ve been getting from the clips, featurettes, and trailers that have been released thus far to promote the retelling of Peter Parker’s origin story. However, once it got started, we were treated to some new shots and two new scenes towards the end of the trailer.

To me, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ falls somewhere in between ‘The Avengers’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. Yes, it comes out between the two, but that’s not what I mean. It’s not as light as Joss Whedon’s epic superhero team up flick, and it’s not as dark as Christopher Nolan’s conclusion to his game-changing trilogy. Spider-Man falls somewhere in between the two movies, providing a nice middle ground or a pallet cleanser before getting super dark and dreary in Gotham City.

‘The Amazing Spider-Man’, from ‘(500) Days of Summer’ director Marc Webb and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, and Rhys Ifans, opens in theaters on July 3, 2012 in 2D, 3D, IMAX, and IMAX 3D.
