Stan Lee is a very creatively busy man! Yesterday we reported that Dan Gilroy would be writing a screenplay for Lee’s new Asian superhero ‘The Annihilator’, and now Variety is reporting that Lionsgate has just acquired the film rights to another new superhero and have hired the writers of ‘Smallville’ to write the script.
Not much is known about this new superhero or the project except that it will be “a multi-generational superhero movie that spans several decades” and that Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, the men who scribed ‘Smallville’, ‘I Am Number 4’ and ‘Spider-Man 2,’ will be writing the screenplay. In fact, it was Lee himself who approached the two with the concept after becoming a fan of ‘Smallville’ and having worked with them on ‘Spider-Man 2.’ Along with writing, Millar and Gough will also direct and produce this untitled project.
Other than that, we’ll just have to wait until more news is released. Millar and Gough seem to do better with superheroes as ‘Smallville’ and ‘Spiderman 2’ were great examples that showcased their talent. Their last endeavor, the remake of ‘Charlie’s Angels,’ should be left off their resume.
As much as I adore the classics, I love the fact that new superheroes are being created for the big screen! So, how about you? Are you as excited about knowing more of Lee’s new crusader?
