Countless people tuned in for Sunday night’s premiere of ‘Game of Thrones’ on HBO.  Were you one of them?  If not, you’ve missed what I consider to be a really stunning start to their series.  I won’t give away too much because I’d like to give others a chance to see it before I start sharing spoilers.  But in the weeks to come I’ll be sharing weekly recaps that will be very specific in detail – so consider yourself warned!

Before HBO announced production of this show, I had never heard of the written work this series is based on (yes, apparently I’ve been living under a rock for years and never knew it), but even without familiarity with the literature I found the premiere to be absolutely amazing. HBO always produces top-notch television shows.  I totally expected them to deliver with ‘Game of Thrones’ and deliver they did.  The story line is fantastic.  In just one short hour, I already felt as though I was emotionally vested in the characters and their future within their respective homeland.  I couldn’t find one actor that I thought could’ve been replaced by someone who would’ve been a better choice.  The casting was phenomenal.

In addition, the landscapes and special effects were breath taking.  Each land was portrayed in its splendor, and I could see the painstaking detail in every scene.  Whether I was watching the beheading of a deserter, a friendly conversation between a King and his old friend, or a night of drinking and debauchery at a barbarian wedding, the sets were just gorgeous.

Here’s your last chance to catch the premiere before I start sharing more details about this series as further episodes air.  If you’re an HBO subscriber, check your cable company to see if you are eligible for HBO On Demand.  You can catch any episodes of any HBO series you may have missed.
