Marvel Netflix Shows

We’re going to file this one away as wishful thinking unless Disney is going to be spending a lot of money, but the new head of Disney+ has shared that there is “a possibility” that the Netflix shows could call the new streaming service home. It seems unlikely that Netflix would allow for any wiggle room for the Netflix Marvel actors to be released from their contracts which has a 18-month to 2-year clause that prevents them from playing these characters elsewhere but anything is possible. While ‘Iron Fist’ and ‘Luke Cage‘ had lower ratings, at the time ‘Daredevil‘ was canceled, it is reported to be one of the highest streaming shows that Netflix still had to offer. If this is true, that would mean that something else was at play for the streaming giant to continue canceling the Marvel shows.

That something just might happen to be the upcoming birth of Disney+ will have its own exclusive Marvel content to be streamed. Even so, Kevin A. Mayer who is the Chairman of Direct-to-Consumer and International division of The Walt Disney Company believes that we could see these heroes heading home a bit sooner. While he didn’t share if any attempted deal was in the works to bring these shows to Disney+, he did share that it was feasible:

“They are very high-quality shows. We haven’t yet discussed that, but I would say that’s a possibility.”

A possibility isn’t a done deal but having another set of shows that have a pre-built audience could only help bring over any Netflix users that had initially signed up to the network to help get their Marvel fix.

While both ‘Jessica Jones‘ and ‘The Punisher are still under contract until their next seasons are released, it is hard to imagine that Netflix will continue either series once they debut.

Do you think that we could still see ‘Daredevil,’ ‘Iron Fist,’ ‘Luke Cage,’ ‘Jessica Jones’, and possibly even ‘The Punisher’ find their way to Disney+? Would the shows make more sense to appear on Disney’s new streaming service or Hulu? Share your thoughts in the comments below, True Believers!
