star wars

Not much is known about the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ series being produced by Jon Favreau other than the fact that it will be a live-action series, will be part of Disney’s new streaming service, and reportedly, the budget will be something close to $100 million dollars (which makes sense if you want it to look like a high-quality ‘Star Wars’ project). However, it seems a few more project details have potentially come to light, thanks to ‘Making Star Wars,’ who claims to have some inside sources on the matter.

According to their sources, the new rumors for Favreau’s ‘Star Wars’ series is that the whole thing is “set around three years after Return of the Jedi” when the galaxy is rebuilding/ celebrating the fall of the Empire/ Emperor, except for Mandalore, which is in chaos following the Empire’s fall, as they are working on “restoring Mandalore to its former self.”

These rumors are very exciting for a number of reasons, the first of which is the possibility of seeing a live-action version of Mandalore and its inhabitants at long last, as we have yet to see either in any of the 8 saga ‘Star Wars’ films so far, or in the 2 standalone ‘Star Wars’ films, with Mandalore mainly being known for its appearance in the animated canon ‘Star Wars’ series’s like ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars‘ and ‘Star Wars: Rebels’ where the Mandalorians got a lot more screen time. On that thread, there is also the chance now of maybe seeing some characters from ‘Clone Wars’ or ‘Rebels’ (like fan-favorite Sabine) play a part in the new series, or at the very least get a cameo or a name drop, which is always cool as it re-establishes continuity with the animated shows.

What are your thoughts on these rumors? Could you see this show actually taking place on Mandalore? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments below!
