Clark Gregg Samuel L. Jackson Captain Marvel

With ‘Captain Marvel‘ set to take place in the 90s, characters that have already appeared in the MCU will need to look years younger for their character to fit into that film’s timeline. That means both Samuel L. Jackson‘s Nick Fury and Clark Gregg’s Agent Phil Coulson are going to have to be digitally de-aged for ‘Captain Marvel.’  Not only that, but this CGI on their faces will be done throughout the entire film which makes you wonder what that is going to do for the post-production time.

According to Kevin Feige:

“Well, I think having the option is pretty amazing. And I think having the technology and even without spoiling anything, Sam Jackson is shooting a movie for us right now that takes, where he’s entirely 25 years younger the whole movie [Captain Marvel]. So that’ll certainly be the one–”

At this point, Feige was asked if the same process would be used on Agent Coulson:

“And Coulson. So that’ll be the first one where it’s a character for the whole movie, as opposed to a glimpse at a certain period of time. It’s the whole movie. So it’s possible, assuming that works. It’s possible. It’s very good when you are starting by the way with somebody like Michelle Pfeiffer or Michael Douglas or for that matter Sam Jackson or Clark Gregg. All four of them–”

This could open up all kinds of opportunities for the studio to tell stories throughout the history of our heroes. We’ve seen de-aging from a multitude of characters such as Michael Douglas in ‘Ant-Man,’ Kurt Russell in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ and who could forget a young Robert Downey Jr. in ‘Civil War’ when he took a look into his past.

Are you excited for how Marvel Studios is going to digitally de-age their characters for ‘Captain Marvel’? Do you feel that they’ve been able to pull off the look so far or will this be a stretch for the film to pull off? Share your thoughts below, True Believers!
