‘American Horror Story’‘s Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are busy promoting their newest FX series ‘Pose’ but this month, they get back into fright mode filming the eighth installment of ‘American Horror Story’.  The new season may be subtitled ‘Radioactive’ but that’s not carved in stone.  We do know it is set 18 months in the future.  Kathy Bates, who had to sit out the last season, ‘Cult’ because of a scheduling conflict with her short-lived Netflix sitcom ‘Disjointed’, will be back in a major role.  Evan Peters, who has been a mainstay from the very first season will also be a major character, who will be a flamboyant hairdresser.  ‘AHS’ newcomer Joan Collins will portray his character’s grandmother.   Previous cast members Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman, Cheyenne Jackson, Billie Lourde, Sarah Paulson and Adina Porter are all also due back.  Paulson’s character is known to be wearing “dental appliances” whatever that means.

‘AHS’ has showcased a haunted ‘Murder House’, a Nazi-run ‘Asylum’, a glam ‘Coven’, a doomed ‘Freak Show’, a grounded murder ‘Cult’ and more.  This time, Ryan Murphy says that the eighth season will deliver something the show never has before.

“It’s a season unlike anything we’ve done because there’s a big hook to it. There’s a huge thing that happens in episode five.”

That could mean anything, really.  The ‘Radioactive’ subtitle hints that nuclear annihilation could play a part… but then again, so could giant monsters created by radiation poisoning.

Murphy did offer one tidbit that may be helpful… or maybe not:

“You will see so many fan favorites return that you’ll feel like it’s ‘The Love Boat’.  It’s a very high concept.”

Now that would be terrifying!  If you’ve followed ‘AHS’ from the beginning, you know that even though the seasons take place in different time periods and geographic locations, they all tie together in a shared universe, even though the same actors appear portraying different characters in each installment– sometimes they play more than one character per season.

And there have been many actors that have appeared in various seasons but have not returned for others, due to scheduling (like Bates) or story demands.  A few that have been absent of late that may return, ‘Love Boat’-style, include Angela Bassett, Wes Bentley, Connie Britton, Michael Chiklis, James Cromwell, Taissa Farmiga, Naomi Grossman, Lady Gaga, Jessica Lange (we can only wish!), Adam Levine, Dylan McDermott, Denis O’Hare, Zachary Quinto, Lily Rabe, Chloë Sevigny, Gabourey Sidibe, and Finn Wittrock.

Which past cast members would you like to see return?
