‘Castle’ vet Seamus Dever has been cast in an undisclosed recurring role on the upcoming live-action ‘Titans’ series, coming to Warner Brothers’ direct-to-consumer streaming service, devoted expressly to DC Comics content.

Much of ‘Titans’ has been kept under wraps, but we do know that it will focus on Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) and his maturation from kid sidekick to his own man.  There will be flashbacks to when Dick was a child and part of the family circus act the Flying Graysons.  It is also believed that his main rival on the show will be the son of crime boss Tony Zucco, the gangster responsible for his parents’ deaths.  Beyond that, it is also believed that the demon lord Trigon will be the series Big Bad and will have underlings that work for him, including a character called the Acolyte and possibly even Brother Blood.

So it’s possible that Dever could be playing a number of roles.  The first possibility is John Grayson, Dick’s father, in flashbacks.  It’s even conceivable that Dever could be playing Bruce Wayne, who is believed to be set to also appear in flashbacks.  Or he could be playing the son of Boss Zucco (a character created for the show).  Or he could be playing one of the villains, either Trigon, Acolyte or Brother Blood.  These are ALL guesses, but based on the information released, they’re within the realm of possibility.

In addition to Thwaites, ‘Titans’ stars Teagan Croft as Raven/Rachel Roth, Anna Diop as Starfire/Koriand’r, Ryan Potter as Beast Boy/Garfield Logan and Lindsey Gort as Amy Rohrbach  with recurring guest stars Minka Kelly and Alan Ritchson as Dove/Dawn Granger and Hawk/Hank Hall, respectively.

Dever played Detective Kevin Ryan on the ABC comedy/mystery series ‘Castle’ for eight seasons.  Prior to that, he had regular roles on ‘Army Wives’ and ‘General Hospital’.  He has also popped up in guest roles dozens of other shows.  He will appear in another comic book-based series, ‘Legion‘ during Season Two.  He also had a role in the 2006 movie ‘Hollywoodland’ which starred Ben Affleck as George Reeves, the first actor to play Superman on television.

‘Titans’ is produced by Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, and Sarah Schechter.  Filming has begun, but no indication has been given for when the series (and its streaming service) will be available.
