With a live-action ‘Titans‘ series coming to the DC Digital Service, we’ve just learned that Ryan Potter (‘Jo, the Medicine Runner’,’Supah Ninjas’) will be tackling the role of fan-favorite Beast Boy! While Potter has done live-action work in the past, he is probably best known for his voicework as Hiro Hamada in the ‘Big Hero 6′ movie and upcoming animated series and sequel film. Voicework for Marvel and live-action for DC? A few diehard publisher fanboys are going to be confused on how to root for his work!

When it comes to Beast Boy, this superhero had a lethal disease while on an African expedition as a child which should have killed him. His parents though were highly intelligent geneticists and were willing to take a chance with an experimental drug to save his life. It worked, though he ended up green skin and hair as well as having the ability to reshape his body’s size and change into animals.

The series is being brought together by Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter, and Warner Bros TV. Potter will be joining a cast that includes the likes of Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Lindsey Gort, and Teagan Croft! Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly have also recently joined the cast as Hawk & Dove.

When ‘Titans’ premieres, we’ll be able to watch as Thwaites’s Dick Grayson “emerges from the shadows” and builds a team of young superheroes which will also include Diop’s Starfire and Croft’s Raven among others. There is no word at this time if these heroes will be completely standalone or if a mention of Robin’s mentor will be made.

The DC digital service is set to launch in 2018, and this will be part of the first set of available original content on the network.
