putty-patrol power rangers

We’ve already gotten looks at the revamped Power Rangers, Rita Repulsa, Goldar and Alpha-5 from the upcoming film ‘Saban’s Power Rangers’, which is a big screen adaptation of the classic kids show.  Of course on the original series, Rita would unleash her army of mindless Putties before her main henchmen, so naturally the Putty Patrol will appear in the new film and like everyone else, they will be slightly modified from their original depiction, which was basically stuntmen in silver lycra suits and face-concealing masks.

The same as with Goldar, our first look at the Putties comes via the toys being produced by Bandai for the new movie.

The new Putties appear to be composed of a mud or clay-like substance or possibly even concrete.  They bear a passing resemblance to the Batman villain Clayface.  Also, on the torso, you may notice a grating or fencing of some sort.  If they are somehow made from concrete from a construction site, that could make sense that a piece of fencing from that site could have been integrated, whether intentionally or not.

“Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.”

Power Rangers stars Bryan Cranston (Zordon), Elizabeth Banks (Rita Repulsa), Naomi Scott (Kimberly/Pink Ranger), David Denman (Sam Scott), Becky G. (Trini/Yellow Ranger), Sarah Grey (Amanda), RJ Cyler (Billy Cranston/Blue Ranger), Emily Maddison (Rebecca), Ludi Lin (Zack Taylor/Black Ranger), and Dacre Montgomery (Jason Lee Scott/Red Ranger).

‘Saban’s Power Rangers’ morphs into theaters on March 24, 2017.
