Nick Fury Line Was Always Part Of The Film

The fan-favorite line by uttered by Nick Fury in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home‘ was always a hit according to writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. In fact, once everyone on the film’s creative team heard Fury utter “Bitch, please. You’ve been to space” they all knew it would be in the trailer.

Sommers pitched the line early in the process while the writers were figuring out the various ways to address everything that happened in ‘Avengers: Endgame.’

According to McKenna:

“It got a big laugh in the room. Everyone knew that’s going to be in the trailer. That’s just one of those jokes that popped up really early and just stuck with it the whole time.”

Keeping the line clearly worked as it was one of the many that fans have consistently loved about the film and it fit into the two mandates Marvel had for the writers:

“We had two mandates. One: coming off of Endgame, make sure we come up with a really fun Spider-Man movie. The second mandate was, yes, there are some things we have to be reacting to. Peter is coming off the events of Endgame, and that is going to inform the story. Back to mandate number one: have fun with it.”

Much like Tony Stark’s Iron Man was drawn into working with S.H.I.E.L.D., it looked as if Parker’s Spider-Man was being pulled into Fury’s world. At least, until the ending ruined that from easily happening.
