For years, World Wrestling Entertainment has been declaring, “You never know what’s going to happen.” This sentiment has held true as WCW legend Sting finally appeared in a WWE ring, the Undertaker’s Wrestlemania streak was ended by Brock Lesnar, Hulk Hogan returned home (before being recently excommunicated once again), and a parade of Hollywood stars such as Hugh Jackman and Arnold Schwarzenegger have made guest appearances inside the squared circle. A few months ago, it looked like Stephen Amell would be the latest celebrity to enter the WWE when the ‘Arrow’ and ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Half Shell’ star had a confrontation with the bizarre Stardust on an episode of Monday Night Raw. However, that storyline was abruptly halted and presumed cancelled due to the tragic death of WWE Hall of Famer and professional wrestling legend Dusty Rhodes, the father of Cody Rhodes (aka Stardust).

But by the sounds of things, it’s far from over between the Emerald Archer and the Keeper of the Cosmic Key. Upon his return to the WWE, Stardust reignited his feud with superheroes by targeting the company’s own version of death-defying comic book hero, Neville. The Man That Gravity Forgot, along with the entire WWE Universe, has been dealing with Stardust’s supervillain-esque mind games for some time, including this cryptic message from a recent episode of Smackdown:

Scattered throughout that promo were obvious references to Amell and his Green Arrow character on the popular DC Comics series on The CW. The war of words continued on social media when Stardust attacked the actor again on Twitter. Former WWE Champion and reality star The Miz even got a few shots in after Amell debuted his new ‘Arrow’ costume at San Diego Comic-Con. Though he has responded swiftly to these WWE Superstars calling him out on Twitter, Amell really threw down the gauntlet with a video on his Facebook page:

Why are WWE wrestlers taking shots at me?

As he stated during his panel at Nerd HQ a few weeks ago, Amell has been in talks with WWE about getting involved with the show somehow. It was previously believed that he would step into the ring at the upcoming Summerslam event next month, but the video above seems to indicate something a little different. And now with Neville and his Red Arrow finishing maneuver involved, who knows how this could play out? For all we know, Amell’s TMNT co-star Sheamus could get in the mix and we’ll have a tag match on our hands. But no matter how it happens, it seems pretty likely that fans will be seeing the actor on WWE programming (potentially in character as the Arrow) at some point very soon.

What do you think about Stephen Amell getting involved with World Wrestling Entertainment? Would you like to see him step into the ring to take on Stardust? And do you think he’ll bring his trademark hood along next time we see him on WWE television? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments below, because things are about to go down.
