While ‘Agent Carter‘ has yet to acquire a premiere date, ABC is going to have Hayley Atwell‘s (‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘,’Avengers: Age of Ultron‘) Agent Peggy Carter appear on the second season of Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘! She’ll be included in the season premiere of the series in an episode titled ‘Shadows’ which will see Coulson and his team trying to continue keeping the world safe even with S.H.I.E.L.D. in the outs.

Here’s the synopsis for the premiere episode:

Coulson and his team are now wanted fugitives with limited resources–but that’s not stopping them from keeping the world safe from powerful and unseen threats everywhere. However, with new members they hardly know, will S.H.I.E.L.D. ever be trusted again?

There is no word if we’ll be seeing a younger Peggy Carter form a flashback from when S.H.I.E.L.D. was formed, a slightly older Carter in a flashback with Coulson, or the dementia suffering Carter from ‘The Winter Soldier.’ It’s easy to assume that they could be using flashbacks to make parallels between Peggy putting together S.H.I.E.L.D. originally with Coulson trying to rebuild it in modern times. Offhand, also in the episode will be TV Host George Stephanopoulos who will be playing himself.

The second season will also be breaking things up as we are introduced to a slew of new characters.

Of note we’ll see the inclusion of Brian Patrick Wade as Carl “Crusher” Creel, aka the Absorbing Man who for years was one of Thor’s major enemies. We’ll also see Adrianne Palicki as she plays Mockingbird who many of us have been hoping will show up. Finally we’ll learn more about Skye’s father (Kyle MacLachlan will be playing the part). With her origins still in mystery, it’ll be interesting to see how human he ends up being.

The guest star list at this point is pretty amazing as on top of both Hayley Atwell and George Stephanopoulos there are a ton of agents, military and other guest appearances already slated which include B.J. Britt as Agent Antoine Triplett, Nick Blood as Agent Lance Hunter, Patton Oswalt as Agent Billy Koenig, and a name you may see as familiar with Adrian Pasdar as Brigadier General Glenn Talbot.

Past the known military, though, we also have Henry Simmons as Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie, Lucy Lawless as Isabelle “Izzy” Hartley, Wilmer Calderon as Idaho, Reed Diamond as Daniel Whitehall, Brian Patrick Wade as Carl Creel, Matthew Glave as Roger Browning, Simon Kassianides as Sunil Bakshi and Raquel Gardner as Carla Talbot. It is inclear if this list of characters will be part of S.H.I.E.L.D., Hydra, or something else entirely.

Are you looking forward to the return of Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’? Do you think the inclusion of Peggy Carter is a smart one? Who else would you like to see make a guest appearance this season?

Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D’ will return on September 23rd and air on Tuesday nights at 9:00pm EST
