Ever since appearing in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’, fans have fallen in love with Peggy Carter. Now, after the success of her Marvel One-Shot, Hayley Atwell’s character will be getting her own ABC series in January called ‘Agent Carter.’ But before we get into her life after Cap and the beginnings of S.H.I.E.L.D., the actress sat down to talk about a few of her favorite things about the role.

In an interview with TV Line, Atwell shared some details about her upcoming eight-episode show set in the early days of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. First, the actress revealed that they begin shooting in September, so she is going through some vigorous physical training so that she can perform as many stunts as legally possible. Then, she went on to discuss her favorite part about playing Peggy:

“My favorite part is something the audiences haven’t seen yet. It’s the development of her character throughout the series which will be someone who is kind of more three-dimensional, something that women can relate to, as not just the competent, strong, intelligent woman in this workforce, but the psychological, emotional cost. What it takes for a woman to have to sacrifice personal relationships in order to find her place in the world and to fulfill her kind of destiny.”

It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark.
