Back in July, it was announced that Lucy Lawless of ‘Xena: Warrior Princess,’ ‘Spartacus,’ and ‘Battlestar Galactica’ would be joining ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ for season two. At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios revealed that the genre favorite would be playing veteran S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Isabelle Hartley, who is said to be helping Director Phil Coulson rebuild the organization after the events of ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier.’ Now, we have our first look at Agent Hartley from her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut.
Earlier this week, Marvel.com unveiled the first picture of Lawless from the upcoming second season premiere of the first show to take place in the same continuity as the popular superhero films from the House of Ideas. Unfortunately, they didn’t share any new details about her character, but executive producer Jed Whedon recently told Entertainment Weekly that Hartley “might not be on the right side of things” when we’re introduced to her. No word yet on if that means she’s working for S.H.I.E.L.D. rivals or if she’s opposing Coulson and company in some way, but while we try to figure that out, you can see the picture of her below:
Lawless joins a number of new additions to the ABC series next season. Of the many new cast members making their way to the MCU, some notable ones include ‘Twin Peaks’ star Kyle MacLachlan as Skye’s father, Brian Patrick Wade of ‘Teen Wolf’ as the Absorbing Man, and one-time Wonder Woman Adrianne Palicki as Agent Bobbi Morse AKA Mockingbird.
