The year 2014 marks the 30th anniversary of the iconic sci-fi comedy ‘Ghostbusters’ and there will be a number of ways to celebrate in the coming months. First, the film returns to theaters for a limited re-release on August 29th in over 700 theaters across North America to relive its success from the summer of 1984. Then, on September 16th, Sony Pictures will release a collector’s edition Blu-Ray set with both movies and an exclusive Slimer figure. But it all kicks off on August 28th, which has been dubbed National Ghostbusters Day!

Though there has been a ton of focus on the on again, off again sequel ‘Ghostbusters III’ in recent years, National Ghostbusters Day will focus on the films that started it all. To commemorate the adventures of the formidable paranormal specialist consisting of Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler, and Winston Zeddemore, First Showing shared a couple of classic featurettes to commemorate the special day. In the first video, you can go behind the scenes of the original ‘Ghostbusters’ film and learn more about the legendary comedic minds involved in the project such as Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Rick Moranis, and director Ivan Reitman:

The second special feature looks at ‘Ghostbusters II’, which also celebrates it’s 25th anniversary this year, and explores the making of the highly anticipated sequel:
