We all know that the majority of ‘news’ that we’ve heard about the upcoming Star Wars trilogy and three confirmed spin-off movies have all been rumor and conjecture. However, a new rumor may have some ground in fact. Recently a German site had a writer in attendance at a Hasbro event that was showcasing upcoming product lines and during that event, there were apparently three ‘Star Wars’ themed features highlighting what is to come.

If this is true,  there are spoilers ahead about the direction that the spinoff movies are going to take. If you don’t mind the spoilers you can continue reading,  but if you want to be surprised until the official announcement is made, then turn back now!

You are still here? Good.

So the reason that this rumor holds weight over others is that it is actually getting a response. Quite a few ‘Star Wars’ fan sites which reported the rumor have now been asked to take it down. While that doesn’t confirm that all of the details are correct it could likely mean that there is a hint of truth about it. Usually take down requests aren’t for completely false rumors. (That being said it is always a possibility but….)

So what three films may be the mystery spin-off movies? Well, they would include a ‘Boba Fett‘ origin story, a potential ‘Han Solo‘ origin story (granted it could also be about any new family he has in the new films but lets be honest here – we want more Han!), and a film about X-Wing fighters called ‘Red Five’. The interesting portion about this is that Disney had, at one point a year back, already shot down Solo and Fett movies. Were they lying then or is this set of rumors totally off?

If the rumors are true, that would put the release schedule of the upcoming films to be in the following order:

  • 2014: Rebels
  • 2015: Episode VII
  • 2016: Boba Fett
  • 2017: Episode VIII
  • 2018: Solo
  • 2019: Episode IX
  • 2020: Red Five

All of the above rumors and release dates seems to confirm what we’ve already been expecting. The big new one, though, is ‘Red Five’. Could this be more details about Luke as a fighter pilot as that was his call sign in ‘A New Hope’ and it takes place between ‘Episodes VI and V’? Could this be fleshing out the call sign of other characters who have used it after he did? Or will this be an entirely new film set in the future of the ‘Star Wars’ universe? All I know is that it sounds like if that is the title we’re going to be getting a ton of dog fights in space and that is something Lucasfilm has always been able to make look pretty on screen.
