Without having ‘Dexter’ to bring us any kind of horror (as light hearted as it was), Showtime’s latest endevour looks to really bring us the thrills and now we’ve finally got the first full trailer for ‘Penny Dreadful’ to really get a feel for the show. It’s been a long wait with a short teaser and a couple of video blogs teasing us on the style of the series, but now we have something we can sink our teeth, erm, eyes into!
The last teaser barely gave us any clues about ther sho, but in this full length trailer, not only do we finally get a look but we also know that the show is set to premiere on Sunday, May 11th at 10pm! We’re under 5 months from the start of the show!
Well, let’s have a gander before I go on, shall we?
Synopsis:
Penny Dreadful centers around some of literature’s famed monsters — including Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, Dorian Gray and figures from the Dracula – weaving together classic horror origin stories as the characters grapple with their monstrous alienation
OK now that creeps it up a little. The series definitely doesn’t have the light tone of ‘Dexter‘ and even though one of the creators, John Logan (‘Hugo‘, ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’) has described the show as “highly erotic” and “very bloody”. I’d say we’re going to be seeing something more along the lines of ‘American Horror Story‘ and not ‘True Blood‘. This is a good thing because let’s be honest, ‘American Horror Story’ has been rocking it and ‘True Blood’ is coming to an end. I do like the look of the trailer and I’m hoping the show lives up to the teaser.
