The first season of ‘Ash vs Evil Dead‘ blatantly ignored the ‘Army of Darkness though we’ve learned from SDCC 2016 that the second season won’t be pretending that it never happened. While fans were disappointed that his journeys weren’t brought into the plot, it boiled down to being a rights issue. Thankfully, according to executive producer Rob Tapert, the rights issue has been resolved!

With the resolution Tapert says:

We actually can reference [Army of Darkness], and we reference it in this coming season. We just don’t pull upon that universe, but this coming season Ash is able to talk about events that happened in Army of Darkness, although people are not likely to believe him, of course

I’m not sure what they did to resolve them since showrunner Craig DiGregorio had previously mentioned that the rights issue was in the way but I am very happy to hear that they have been. I’m curious as to how we’ll have his adventures in 1300 AD brought into play and truly hope that it won’t be just a casual one-off reference. I think that bringing in the gauntlet hand full time or one of the characters from ‘Army of Darkness’ would be a great little tie-in. Something to really prove to his friends that don’t believe him or that he is keeping secret for himself that the fans will recognize would be fantastic.

Are you looking forward to the ‘Army of Darkness’ being brought to the small screen in ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’? Do you think that his adventures will just be referenced or fully brought into the plotline? Share your thoughts below!

‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ will return to Starz for a second season this October!
