America may run on Dunkin, but the rumor mill runs on ‘Justice League’. And yes, that was a Dunkin Donuts reference for those of you who don’t have that where you live. Anyway, the latest “news” to come out of the woodwork about DC’s team up flick comes to us via Cosmic Book News, who claim to have the character breakdown of the team’s roster. According to their report, here are the names that will be included in the film:

Superman: Essentially the same character from Man of Steel, and Zack Snyder is consulting regarding the writing of the character.

Batman: The strategist of the group. Batman doesn’t really want to be involved with these super powered beings he considers too powerful. Easily the most complex written.

Wonder Woman: She has only been in man’s world a few short months. The Wonder Woman script Michael Goldenberg is developing will be set before the Justice League movie.

Green Lantern: Will be Ryan Reynold’s character from the Green Lantern movie, but will be freshly written with a more serious tone.

Flash: The most popular hero in civilian eyes who loves media attention, but when called upon is very serious.

Martian Manhunter: Alien who has lived on Earth in secret for over a hundred years who has knowledge of Darkseid and his reign.

Aquaman: Will be the King of Atlantis who has a key role in the film.

This seems to jive with the information that was revealed about the film’s plot and villain last month, and even if this source isn’t exactly credible, it’s a good guess considering that these seven are usually the core of the team anyway. The article also mentions that a heavy military presence and cameos from Lois Lane, Alfred Pennyworth, and Darkseid’s Elite will be featured in the film as well.

While this all sounds copasetic, I find it hard to believe that this Green Lantern will be the same as Ryan Reynolds’ version of the character. While I like the actor, the movie was pretty bad and it would do DC and WB some good to distance themselves from it and start a new universe with Zack Snyder’s ‘Man of Steel’. Or, if they really want to keep Reynolds in continuity, replace Hal Jordan with John Stewart or Guy Gardner or Alan Scott. There’s plenty of Lanterns from Earth to choose from.

Also, Aquaman has a “key role” in the film? They’re really pushing this “Aquaman isn’t a loser anymore!” thing hardcore these days. The man does more than talk to fish these days, people! Or, at least, that’s what I’m told by some (but one in particular) Aquaman fanatics.

I want this to be dialogue in the film.

Remember, none of this is set in stone yet and things could still change considering that nothing official has been announced at all. Everything is purely hearsay at this point. But until we get some concrete confirmation, what do you think about this roster? Are you satisfied with the DC all-stars occupying this roster? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

‘Justice League’, which is currently director-less but is being written by Will Beale, is slated for release in 2015 in order to go head to head with Joss Whedon’s ‘The Avengers 2’.
