Amazon Has Come Undone With The Trailer For Their New Animated SeriesRosa Salazar and Bob Odenkirk are going to be starring in “a genre-bending animated series” on Amazon called ‘Undone’ and the first teaser trailer for the show is out! . The show was developed by Kate Purdy and Raphael Bob-Waksberg of ‘BoJack Horseman‘ fame.

Amazon Studios describes ‘Undone’ as “a half-hour, genre-bending, animated series that explores the elastic nature of reality through its central character Alma, a twenty-eight-year-old living in San Antonio, Texas. After getting into a car accident and nearly dying, Alma finds she has a new relationship to time. She develops this new ability in order to find out the truth about her father’s death.”

A secondary description of the show shares a bit more detail about the character Alma Winograd-Diaz (Rosa Salazar, Alita: Battle Angel) “who takes her mundane life one day at a time until a near fatal accident induces visions of her late-father, Jacob. Through these persistent visions, Jacob urges her to tap into a mysterious ability that allows her to travel through space and time with the hopes of preventing his untimely death. This quest challenges Alma’s relationships and brings into question her mental wellbeing with those closest to her.”

This puts the show firmly on the edge of being either a science fiction series or a psychological drama which viewers likely won’t know which we’re seeing until the very end, if even at that point!

As to how the animation process to put ‘Undone’ together:

Undone is brought to life using rotoscope animation, a process that has never before been used in episodic television. The unique look of the animation, under the direction of Hisko Hulsing (Montage of Heck), utilizes a variety of mediums, including oil painting on canvas to render the backgrounds. Amsterdam-based animation studio Submarine has assembled an incredible team of artists and painters from all over Europe to bring the animation elements to life, with rotoscope by the veteran team behind A Scanner Darkly at Austin-based Minnow Mountain (Tower) led by co-producer Craig Staggs.
