Just as the teaser promised earlier this week, a brand new trailer for ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ debuted during Thursday evening’s Olympic coverage. Composed almost entirely of new footage, we finally get a much better look at the team that sets out to retrieve the blueprints for the legendary Death Star. But you don’t want to hear any of this right now. Here’s the latest trailer, followed by the official synopsis of the film:

In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

After a few viewings, here are a few of my initial thoughts on this ‘Rogue One’ preview. First, as badass as Donnie Yen’s Chirrut Îmwe and Ben Mendelsohn’s Director Orson Krennic are, our leading lady Jyn Erso played by Felicity Jones stands on her own and exudes her own badassery throughout the video. Then, unhinged security droid K-2SO (who is voiced by fan favorite ‘Firefly’ star Alan Tudyk) is sure to be an instant hit once fans get to see more of him. He reminds me of a more twisted C-3PO, but definitely not as evil as Darth Vader’s protocol droid Triple-Zero from the Marvel comic written by Kieron Gillen.

And finally, speaking of Darth Vader, was anyone else bothered that the short glimpse at the Sith Lord didn’t include the second breath that we’re accustomed to hearing? I won’t go so far as to say that it took me out of the experience, but that quick shot of the former Anakin Skywalker could have lasted for one more beat just to get that breath in there. Obviously, director Gareth Edwards and Lucasfilm want to keep up anxious for more, but they could have given us one more second of the iconic villain breathing.
