Legends Of Tomorrow Stars Thought Beebo's Death By Cuddling Storyline Would Be A 'Career Ender'

When the adorably cuddly Beebo was introduced in Season Three of ‘Legends of Tomorrow,’ some of the show’s stars were worried about how the character would fit into the series.

When the cast discovered that the season finale would see five Legends transforming into a Giant Beebo that would hug the demon lord Mallus to death, Dominic Purcell (who portrays Mick Rory on the series) said what most of the cast was thinking:

“Okay, this is a career ender.”

The stars of ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ recently sat down for an interview where they were asked about their reaction to the script for ‘The Good, the Bad, and the Cuddly.’ They did not mince words about their initial thoughts about the unconventional finale episode. Nick Zano, who plays Nate Heywood, said:

“I thought that was it. I was like, ‘We were onto something and we just wrote a grenade into our own house.’ I was going to say, ‘No way that this works or is believable in any sense.’ And I was 1,000 percent wrong.”

Purcell added:

“I remember exactly what I said: ‘Okay, this is a career ender.’ I mean, seriously, that’s what I thought. ‘Okay, I’m never coming back from this.’ But again, in time, that kind of stuff belongs on Legends, and we are allowed basically to do whatever we want. That’s the beauty of this show.”

Brandon Routh, who plays Ray Palmer, added that the fan reaction to Beebo over the course of the last few seasons has been surprising:

“We were all a bit cautious or worried when he first entered in the Viking episode. I think the judicious use of Beebo in [following] episodes has been good and it’s certainly been a fun hallmark of the show now.”

While it is unclear whether Beebo will appear in Season Five, one thing is clear: Beebo will live on in the hearts of ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ fans forever

Beebo or no Beebo, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ will return with Season Five on January 21.
