J.J. Abrams

J.J. Abrams has been fielding questions about his upcoming film ‘The Rise of Skywalker.’ Among those is a burning question that fans everywhere need the answer to! What is his favorite scene from the ‘Star Wars’ prequels!?

In a recent interview, Abrams admitted that his favorite scene comes from ‘The Revenge of the Sith.’ The seduction scene that shows Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) luring Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) to the dark side of the Force by recounting the tale of Darth Plagueis. Abrams said:

“There’s just something about that scene. There’s just two people sitting there. It’s visually interesting. But I just think Ian’s performance in it is spectacular.”

Abrams then took control of the interview, asking for the host’s favorite scene. He named the lightsaber battle from ‘The Phantom Menace,’ where Darth Maul (Ray Park) is seemingly killed by Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor).

Abrams agreed that the scene in question was “amazing” but also disappointing as Maul was featured so prominently in the film’s marketing and then was killed off before the character could develop:

“It was over too quickly.”

In a separate interview, Abrams was asked his reaction to ‘The Last Jedi’ script, which killed off the new trilogy villain Supreme Leader Snoke. He said:

“When I read his first draft, it made me laugh, because I saw that was his take and his voice. I got to watch cuts of the movie as he was working on it, as an audience member. And I appreciated the choices he made as a filmmaker that would probably be very different from the choices that I would have made. Just as he would have made different choices if he had made ‘Episode VII.’”
