Following the news that Emily Bett Rickards would return for the final episode of ‘Arrow’ comes the announcement that Paul Blackthorne will also be back, reprising the role of Quentin Lance.  Lance was killed off at the end of Season 6, so it should be interesting to see how the show will pull off bringing him back.  Former cast member, Colin Donnell reprised his role as Tommy Merlyn in the Season 8 opener, but that was the Tommy of Earth-2 and showrunner Beth Schwartz has stated “besides the [five-part ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’] crossover, [that is] the only episode of Arrow that is on a different Earth.”

Quentin Lance died when he took a bullet meant for the Earth-2 doppelganger of his dead daughter Dinah (Katie Cassidy), which helped inspire the formerly villainous Black Siren to permanently take to the side of good.

Upon the announcement that Rickards was returning, Stephen Amell tweeted his happiness, with executive producer Marc Guggenheim also chiming in.

So far, three episodes of ‘Arrow’ Season 8 have aired.  There will be a total of ten episodes of this final season.  The show is currently shooting its final episode, so presumably, that will be the installment in which Paul Blackthorne will be seen. It looks as though seven episodes will air before the show goes on winter hiatus, as the eighth episode will be this show’s contribution to “Crisis on Infinite Earths,”  and will the first show back after the break.  The ninth and penultimate episode of Season 8 will be the backdoor pilot for ‘Green Arrow and the Canaries’.

Are you looking forward to the return of Paul Blackthorne as Quentin Lance?
