Although Netflix isn’t commenting, TV Line has reported that ‘Stranger Things 4’ will consist of eight episodes and that sounds about right, as that’s how many episodes were in Seasons 1 and 3.  Season 2 was slightly longer, at nine.  Further, it has been revealed that filming on Season 4 will begin in January and run until August.  (Dang!)  That, unfortunately, means that we won’t get to see the new season until 2021.  (Those kids are going to be adults by then!)  That effectively squashes the naïve fan theory that somehow the show would return with new episodes THIS year after Netflix released a teaser of a clock which seemed to hint at the numbers 12, 11, and 19.

Season 4 was confirmed at the end of September, when the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers (Matt and Ross), signed an overall development deal with Netflix.  At that time, Netflix released a teaser video that stated: “We’re not in Hawkins anymore.”  Of course, that was evident in the final episode of Season 3, when the Byers and Eleven moved away to parts unknown, and we got a glimpse of a Demogorgon being held captive in Russia, along with a human prisoner referred to as only “The American,” which everyone hopes is Chief Hopper, who seemed to have been killed previously.

Another thing that was evident at the end of the third season is that Eleven isn’t going to be the same moving forward.  She seems to have, at least temporarily, lost the use of her telekinetic powers.  This may have been due to her being sliced by the Mindflayer during the “Battle of Starcourt,” or she may have burnt her powers out, by using them beyond the limits she had previously done so.  Another fan theory is that the injury delivered by the Mindflayer will result in Eleven turning evil!  But we’ll have to see how things work out.

Last week, the writers released a list of five movies that will, in some way, influence the upcoming season– ‘The Peanut Butter Solution’, ‘The Fisher King’, ‘Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey’, ‘You’ve Got Mail’, and ‘Ordinary People’.  Have fun figuring out how those will impact ‘Stranger Things’!

Hopefully, Suzie will make another appearance and we’ll get another karaoke sesh!

‘Stranger Things’ Season 1-3 are available to stream in their entirety on Netflix.  Stay tuned for news about Season 4 as it arrives.
