Although Season 3 of Netflix’s hit series ‘Stranger Things’ was released less than just three months ago, Netflix has already shared a mysterious teaser for the series anxiously awaited fourth season.

The official social media accounts of ‘Stranger Things’ have all recently changed their profile picture to what looks like an upside-down clock that reads 11 o’clock. The teaser was posted on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook and forewarns the nefarious forces of the show’s dark, alternate dimension. The new ‘Stranger Things 4’ teaser is below.

Considering the show ended with a post-credits scene cliffhanger, everyone has been speculating about how the next season will play out and what the teaser image could mean.

“Just spitballing, the top part of the clock is on the 12, the ticker is on the 11, the fade in black is on technically 19, so putting that together it’s 12/11/2019, two weeks before Christmas, again just spitballing,” Joshua Derouchie said.

“Time travel. It was hugely referenced in this one more than all the other little references. They made seeing Back to the Future a big part of that episode and then part of the letter at the end he mentioned if he could turn back time. Then also the promise to make the date with Joyce. He could save Alexei. Time travel was a big part of many 80s films and TV,” Arlan Martinez added on Facebook.

The teaser left fans with many questions and speculations from whether ‘Stranger Things’ is producing a Halloween special to whether ‘Stranger Things’ will involve a time travel plot. The showrunners of ‘Stranger Things’ have suggested that the supernatural series will conclude with a fourth or fifth season. This knowledge along with the clock in the teaser may be symbolizing the Hawkins gang’s last big adventure. Maybe not. There is no chance of knowing for certain what is to come until the series is officially renewed.

For those who have already binged and forgotten, the official synopsis for ‘Stranger Things 3’ can be read below:

“It’s 1985 in Hawkins, Indiana, and summer’s heating up. School’s out, there’s a brand new mall in town, and the Hawkins crew are on the cusp of adulthood. Romance blossoms and complicates the group’s dynamic, and they’ll have to figure out how to grow up without growing apart. Meanwhile, danger looms. When the town’s threatened by enemies old and new, Eleven and her friends are reminded that evil never ends; it evolves. Now they’ll have to band together to survive, and remember that friendship is always stronger than fear.”

At this point, Officer Hopper’s fate in the series is ambiguous. Hop is thought to be dead by his friends and adoptive daughter in Hawkins, but we, the fans, aren’t buying it. There was just too much unexplained: no body was discovered, the five strangers in HAZMAT suits, and the post-credits scene saw a Russian soldier being told to feed a prisoner to their Demogorgon, but is ordered to spare “the American.”

‘Stranger Things 3’ is now streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned for updates on Season 4!
