Elvira Gets Animated In This Clip From 'Scooby-Doo: Return To Zombie Island'
Warner Brothers

Scooby-Doo and his pals are teaming up with celebrities on the Boomerang series ‘Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?’, but there is one guest that will only show up in the new animated movie, ‘Scooby-Doo: Return to Zombie Island’Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.

In a new clip from the movie, Elvira is shown in a familiar role, as the host of cheesy monster movies.  Her show is on the TV as the gang hangs out at their favorite diner, before their journey back to Zombie Island.

You can see and hear Elvira in action in the clip below (which Elvira herself shared on Twitter):

Vice President Family & Animation Marketing, Mary Ellen Thomas stated:

“Zombies are a very popular theme in entertainment now and we wanted to create a fun, family-friendly version of this genre for Scooby-Doo! fans. So we brought back a Scooby-Doo! classic and continued the original story but created a captivating new plotline.  ‘Scooby-Doo! Return to Zombie Island’ is an entertaining, original film that will appeal to a wide audience. It’s classic Scooby-Doo! with a contemporary look and feel, a fun storyline and engaging characters.”

Recently, Elvira (a.k.a. Cassandra Peterson) has been planning to make a comeback, but has had trouble finding an outlet to host it.  Perhaps this will be step one for her.

‘Scooby-Doo: Return to Zombie Island’ arrives on the 21st anniversary of the release of ‘Scooby-Doo on Monster Island’, the first Scooby direct-to-video movie, which helped the crime-solving canine return to public consciousness with new stories for the first time since 1991.  In addition to a string of original movies, Cartoon Network released the series ‘What’s New, Scooby-Doo?’ which began in 2002.  ‘Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?’ and ‘Scooby-Doo: Return to Zombie Island’ are just the latest exploits for the animated mystery crew.

Warner Brothers

‘Scooby-Doo: Return to Zombie Island’ features the voices of Frank Welker as Fred Jones and Scooby-Doo himself, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy, Grey Griffin as Daphne, and Kate Micucci as Velma.  It was directed by Cecilia Aranovich Hamilton (‘Scooby-Doo and the Curse of the 13th Ghost’) and Ethan Spaulding (‘Freedom Fighters – The Ray’), with a script by Jeremy Adams (‘DC Superhero Girls’).

The movie is available now on digital, and on DVD exclusively at Walmart.  It will be released in physical form at other retailers on October 2nd.
