The Lighthouse

Director Robert Eggers (‘The Witch’) has put a small but solid cast together for ‘The Lighthouse,’ and now we’ve got a first look at this horror-fantasy film. Eggers co-wrote the movie with his brother Max and it features both Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson. In something you don’t see every day with actors of this caliber, the entire movie was shot on black-and-white 35mm film which should add an interesting visual tone to it.

“There is enchantment in the light,” and this new film has been basking in the glow of early praise. It was named the “best movie at Cannes’ Critics Week and Directors’ Fortnight by the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI)” with hints that it will be a contender for end-of-year awards.

When talking about the movie, Eggers has said that it is “something a little weirder” than ‘The Witch’ and that it is “more dreadful than horror.”

The trailer looks fantastic, and the idea of watching both Dafoe and Pattinson as two lighthouse keepers on a remote island slowly spiraling into madness will be an absolute treat for genre fans. With the movie taking place in the 1890s, there won’t be any advanced technology to help these two lonely souls out as something starts to mess with their minds.

We’ve also got the full poster to reveal for the film to share with you:
