Good Omens

When ‘Good Omens‘ hit Amazon earlier this year it took the streaming channel by storm. Fans and critics were in love with what co-creator Neil Gaiman had put together and Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke referenced the show when she said mentioned that the station had “the most successful shows in the history of the service are the ones that have debuted in the past year.” As Amazon is continuing “to build our identity as the best home for talent,” they are looking to expand their original content.

During Saturday’s TCA executive session, Amazon’s TV co-head Vernon Sanders stated:

“We’re lucky to have an ongoing relationship with Neil. We’re so excited about how Season 1 has done for us. The notion has come up about whether we can revisit that world. It’s in Neil’s hands now, but we’d love to do it. We’re finding that it just takes a little time, perhaps, in the case of Neil. But whatever he wants to do, we’re interested in.”

Gaiman has always stated that he only wanted to make a single series to adapt ‘Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch’ which he co-wrote with Terry Pratchett and was published in 1990. However, it is also known that the two had been throwing around ideas for a sequel for years. Throw in the fact that he signed an overall deal with Amazon late last year and this could be a great mini-series to get a sequel.

While only time will tell, I wouldn’t hold my breath on this becoming a reality. Especially after Netflix cancelled the series after a group of 20,000 Christians petitioned the rival streaming service to cancel the series that was only ever meant to be a mini-series.

That petition never gets old.
