black widow

With Marvel Studios revealing their upcoming slate of films, we’re starting to learn about the first movie to drop now that the “Infinity Saga” has come to a close. With that in mind, ‘Black Widow’ does take place during the events of the previous set of films and now we’re going to learn more on why Natasha felt it was her place to make the ultimate sacrifice in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ according to David Harbour.

The actor is set to play The Red Guardian in the film which will put him in direct conflict with the former-S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who was once a Russian operative.

According to Harbour:

“It’s great because you get to go back a little bit in time with her, right? And you get to explore these events, and that’s one of the things that was interesting to me in the movie was because you know the events of Endgame, so you get to explore how she got there and how she got there to make that choice.

I think that’s the interesting part of her narrative is that we get to go back and explore this period of time between the events of Civil War and that particular arc. One of our things is we’ve known each other for a really long time, and that relationship plays into the stuff that’s come beyond. The great thing about knowing the end of an arc, you get to go back and either foreshadow or play against it, and it’s very joyful for fans to see these moments or prepped character beats come in at times.”

While having the idea of Natasha’s sacrifice further fleshed out is a solid choice, it is still curious to see a bit of a flashback film kick off the next major arc in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One can easily suspect here that there will be a significant plot point in the movie that will reverberate into the next slate of films.
